⚠️ This app is not a navigational tool. Do not use it to navigate in the hills. Always carry a map and compass, and know how to use them.
For fun, not navigation
Lake District Wainwrights is an entertainment app designed to add a layer of fun and motivation to fell walking. It uses GPS to celebrate when you reach a summit — nothing more. It is not designed, tested, or intended to be used as a navigational aid, route-planning tool, or safety device of any kind.
Your safety is your responsibility
Walking in the hills carries inherent risk. Before heading out, you should carry appropriate maps and navigation equipment, check the weather forecast, wear suitable clothing and footwear, and tell someone where you are going. The app cannot tell you where you are, how to get somewhere, or how to get back safely. Never rely on a mobile phone app — or mobile phone signal — for navigation in the mountains.
No liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the developer of Lake District Wainwrights accepts no liability whatsoever for any loss, injury, accident, or incident of any kind arising from use of, or reliance upon, this app. This includes but is not limited to: getting lost, injury on the fells, exposure, accidents, or any other consequence of a walking trip. By using this app you acknowledge that it is a leisure product and accept full personal responsibility for your own safety in the outdoors.
GPS accuracy
Summit detection is based on GPS coordinates and a detection radius. GPS accuracy varies depending on your device, weather conditions, and terrain. The app may occasionally trigger a summit detection early, late, or not at all. This is a known limitation of consumer GPS technology and is not a defect.
App availability
The app is provided as-is. We make no guarantees about availability, accuracy of content, or fitness for any particular purpose. Features may change or be removed at any time.
